I hope you had a lovely summer and that the transition back to school has been a smooth one. We're there... it's Kent Test week...
I've sent an email, but for anyone who missed it...
My suggestion is that a task from one of our practice books or a game from my Challenge Booklet is completed today (9th September) and Tuesday (10th September). At this stage, all of the hard work has been done and the focus should be on keeping skills ‘ticking over’ and keeping everybody as calm as possible. Lots of reminders of how, “It’s a test to find out which type of secondary school might be best for you,” and a deliberate avoidance of the terms ‘pass’ and ‘fail’ are particularly useful at this stage, as we work to ensure a calm confidence ahead of the test on Thursday.
I don’t recommend any additional tasks are completed after school on Wednesday, but I have told the children that your instructions supersede mine and they must do as they’re told if you have other ideas!
One of the things I'l be telling the children during my final session with them is to ask you to send me a message if they think of any extra questions that they have between now and Tuesday evening, as I’ll be happy to respond with any extra information that they need in order to feel fully prepared. I’ll answer questions on Wednesday too, but at that stage please send a text rather than an email to be sure I don't miss an important message.
It has been a pleasure to work with your wonderful children this year. Thank you.
